How does the Series 7 & 63 course of The Boston Institute of Finance differ from the other programs out there?
This course gives you unlimited access to proven material in an interactive online format. Do I need other products while I am taking online Series 7 & 63 course?
Practice makes perfect. Students enrolled in the Series 7 & 63 Course should have a working knowledge of the topics tested. We recommend that you supplement your online course with the Boston Institute of Finance Stockbroker Course: Series 7 and 63 Test Prep textbook + CD to greatly improve your success in the exam. Additionally, an Audio Book version of the course is also available.

How does the program work?
All you need is a computer and an Internet connection. First, visit the Series 7 & 63 Test Prep Program page and sign up by creating your account. You will receive an e-mail confirmation within a few minutes. Next, log on and access the premium materials you have purchased. The program is accessible for three months from the date of purchase.

Do I need to be sponsored by a brokerage firm in order to take the Series 7 examination?
Yes, in order to take the Series 7 examination, you must be sponsored by a member firm of FINRA or a self-regulatory organization such as an exchange or state regulator.

Do I need to have a sponsor before I take the Series 63 examination?
No; you can sign up without a sponsor by filing Form U-10 and paying the fee. Indicate "None" or "Not Applicable" where the form requests a sponsoring firm. 

How can I take the Series 7 and 63 Examinations?
For both examinations; a candidate must obtain a ticket, normally by completing a U-4 form and sending it to FINRA together with the applicable fee. The ticket obtained from FINRA is valid for a 90-day period and to take the exam on a PROCTOR computer terminal, a candidate must call a Professional Development Center for an appointment.

How are the Series 7 & 63 examinations graded?
In order to pass the Series 7 examination, you must score at least 70 percent. Therefore, candidates must answer 175 questions correctly out of a total of 250 questions. In some cases, a candidate is given 130 questions on each part of the exam. In this case, five questions on each half of the exam are experimental questions and do not count toward the candidate's grade. Series 63 examination consists of 65 multiple-choice questions covering the topics listed in the study guide. Applicants are allowed 75 minutes to complete the examination. Candidates must attain also scores of 70% in order to pass. Credit will only be given for correct answers. Of the 65 questions on the exam, 60 will count toward the final score. The remaining 5 questions are experimental and do not count toward the candidate's grade.
